A short impromptu stroll through the streets of Yogyakarta

This night in Yogyakarta was a stage from where we did not really know how to organize ourselves. Hesitating in particular to push our visit to the capital, Jakarta, it was after a discussion with the owner who as I said previously speaks good English, that we were able to decide on the rest of the program.

The choice was therefore made to leave for Borobudur, that day. Just enough time to take a short walk via a rickshaw.

So here we are in the small streets of Yogyakarta. In the backpacker district.

At night, when you don't know it, it can be confusing, so it was good to have had a temporary "guide" the day before.

A wave (of which there will be many later).

Now that's a photogenic pose.

Trying to act like a hottie.

There are also some great "faces" but on the old ones it was almost impossible to get a smile when it wasn't a refusal, which just goes to show that generations change...

A little tea break is possible.

The previous alleys lead onto this main street.

What I thought was a "tourist trap" is actually a type of local transport (on Java at least)

Advertising and signs written in large letters reign supreme.

The motorcycle parking lot is full.

As usual, we go into the small streets where we don't come across any tourists (there aren't that many, April being the low season here apparently)

This is the kind of typical situation in Indonesia, still sometimes "shy" about taking portraits of people (which is not my "field" of predilection in terms of photography), it will be the gentleman himself who will ask me to take it (yes like that, in "natural" mode without looking at the lens), I showed him the photo in return and that was enough for them to brighten up their day and offer us a nice smile in return.

An alley full of bric-a-brac.

A cart without its owner.

There were many of these "buyers" who would take back your gold jewelry by the gram or by the kilo.

The smiles are not necessarily aimed at us, here it is live, between them.
DSC_0137.JPG
The kind of profession that disappeared a long time ago in our region.

Back on the main avenue of the district.

Given the abundance of local transport, they wait quite a while.

The mountain in the background is hard to miss, it is so imposing.

Poverty is universal…

Anything amuses them, this joy of living is rather contagious and it feels good.

Despite this layer of cheese, this pasta was relatively bad because the sauce contained too much water and ants on top of that...

Passing by to collect our luggage, a little photo of the reception and its owner all smiles.
