Phetchaburi

Phetchaburi is the first major city you encounter on the road to southern Thailand. There, you can visit a royal palace perched on its hill, and see its cave, which is magnificent when the light hits the Buddha statues seated peacefully within, sheltered from the heat. It's also a region with beaches and the opportunity to go whale watching.
