Chiang Saen is an important ancient city on the border with Laos. Bordering the Mekong River, it is home to several ancient temple ruins and markets typical of northern Thailand. It is a good starting point for visiting the Golden Triangle, formed by the junction of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar.
