Busy schedule today. Let's not forget the swimsuit, the towels kindly provided by the hotel (with a deposit) under the arm, we head towards the shop where we chose the excursion. I tell myself that given the day that awaits us my camera is going to "heat up", by that we mean that I risk taking a lot of pictures, I like photography, and in Thailand, I have a great time (I brought back more than 2000 pictures from this trip!!)
In short, I tell myself that I need space and although it is not really the right time, it turns out that the shop in question is an Internet point, and therefore a computer is available, for 200 bahts, I can put my photos on CD, that's really good. We hurry to finish that. Just in time before leaving, we leave the CD in the shop, I'm not going to carry it around all day, and having left too quickly I forget the towels...
We can say no big deal, it's hot, no need, we dry off quickly... Not that day! It was overcast, even rainy, and even "cool"! At first, it was okay, in a t-shirt, we were taken to a small alley leading to the piece of beach where all the long tail boats are parked, the tourists wait in single file and are distributed by 12 per boat, before that, we are given flippers.
The girl next to me started chatting, it turns out she was French! So I was able to chat a bit, the time to go and pick up other tourists from their hotel on the beach a little further away and squeeze onto our benches. Then we went to the first stop, Shark Point, where you're supposed to see small sharks, but the water was murky. It was a first for my girlfriend, she wasn't very reassured in the water with her mask and fins and spent a lot of time hanging on to me at the beginning...
A good American Breakfast to start the day!
And the little digestive stroll that goes well. The weather was nice, it was 9:30.
Already tired? It's just the beginning! The sky is already overcast, it's noon..
We arrive on Bamboo Island.
Then we go to the 2nd spot, on Bamboo Island. We are already wet, the weather is not great and we lack towels, we are freezing a little... And stopping on this island is good, we are given our meal, included in the day and we can dry off a little and without wind linked to the speed of the longtail it is better. On the island a reconstruction of a fishing village, but paying to visit... and the toilets were in a state... more than one was discouraged but in front of the disillusioned look of my girlfriend wanting to do her business I started cleaning myself, using the water jet (which is normally used for you know what...) to clean the sand of a dull color and the toilet bowl.
Otherwise, the meal was ok and the setting was nice. We stayed an hour, which allowed us to take some nice photos.
Moment of relaxation.
2 photos among the lot that we were crazy about taking, given the setting it's understandable!
The weather is overcast… but what is the sun doing!
It's already time to leave to continue our day, knowing that I didn't know the order of the visits it's a surprise every time, it leaves time to enjoy the landscape, and what a landscape! Despite the capricious weather the walk is worth it.
The rocks in the middle of the water are truly a curiosity.
The color of the water is sublime.
The steep cliffs offer quite a surprising spectacle.
We come to our next step, Monkey Beach, as its name suggests, monkeys roam freely on this beach and in the surrounding trees. As soon as we arrived, we actually saw a few, but the rain came quite quickly and so no more monkeys (and no photos...)
Without our towels (she has criticized me enough, I was in the same boat!) it is very cold and the trees on the edge of the beach do not really protect because it is raining quite hard. So we wedge our things under a trunk and hop into the water! And what a good idea! It is much better in the water which must be between 25 and 27° by sight. We stayed like that for a good half hour, and we were not the only ones, taking advantage to do a little snorkeling, certainly not in the best conditions but still.
Dense forest.
Monkey Beach, the monkeys have already gone into hiding...
What transparency!
Never without a smile!
A little series about me in this crystal clear water.
Is there fog?
Where are we now?
Live The Beach, The Beach is here!
At first I didn't recognize it at all, until I heard " MAYA BAY", so here we are. As I said before after seeing Danny Boyle's film, I dreamed of the idea of going to this kind of place, inaccessible to me, more from a financial point of view, then from a human point of view too as I already explained on my blog, leaving alone did not appeal to me.
And suddenly this famous beach appeared before my eyes, located on Phi Phi Ley Island, I had that I felt a little something, like a kid excited at the idea of opening his present, I open my eyes wide and enjoy. I am indeed there in front of this beach which nevertheless seems very ordinary.
But for me it is all the more mythical here because, being very interested in the world of cinema (it is not for nothing that I work in a post-production company), being able to see with my own eyes a place that served as a setting for a film shoot is always an enjoyable moment.
And there we recognize better?
The water is still as clear as ever.
In the film there is a rock added in the middle (in post production) to give a more secret character to the place.
The pose!
It's better on video.
Obviously I've been shooting quite a bit here...
I will never get tired of the color of water.
The little fish were there!
In the bay the water is not deep, so we went quite far away to take general photos in the middle of the bay, in the water.
Come on, one last drink, in an hour and a half I took about fifty photos, one every 2 minutes….
If you watch the film carefully you should recognize some details!
It's getting late.
It's time to go again, I'm coming back down to earth.
One last one together to immortalize the moment.
Come on, no, this time it's the last one.
The boat has moved away to the middle of the bay and begins to stop, diving break, ah, ok, who wants to? everyone looks very tired, finally a few of them jump in, us and a few others stay on board. The laziness of diving, it's the last straw, yes I know...
Uh, didn't I say the last one?
Blup Blup Blup Blup.
The sun is about to set (it is 17:14 p.m. when the photo is taken)
Viking Cave, blurry because we were going too fast we didn't stop (were we a bit late?)
Phi Phi by night.
Once back safely, we hurry back to take a good shower then we go to get my CD with the photos and bring the towels back to the hotel (to be done before 20pm). After all that what could be better than a good massage session, on the other side of the street where there was the shop, we choose a salon, it feels good….
For those who have never had a Thai massage, I recommend it! It puts you back in place. It can be quite tough, even painful, you have to know that anyway, but it invigorates you! After that it depends on the person, you have to know that it can be painful if you have problems, like back problems or others.
But otherwise in more touristy places like Phi Phi it will be much lighter and no less unpleasant and relaxing, in short a good end to the day!
Come on, little kitty, let's go to bed!
