Indonesia In Malang: bird market and city walk Java, East Java, Poor, Travel to Indonesia 0 (0)The train journey went quite well as we were provided with blankets and being at the back of the carriage we had space behind our seats to put our luggage, so plenty of leg room and fold the seats down. The scenery in the early morning was beautiful although I didn't take any pictures as the windows don't open...Once in Malang, we walk straight from the station, avoiding the rickshaws and others who ask us where we are going (it is always difficult to understand that we prefer to walk even with 20kg on our backs for the sake of economy...) We will find a hotel that is good enough and close (about 1km from the station, there is a big roundabout and several hotels of all categories in the area)Once checked in and after a good shower, we set off to explore the city, a city which has the particularity for us of being a restful stopover, so we chose to stay there an extra day to allow us to catch our breath and also to organize what's next, because if we knew where, we didn't yet know how.For this first day here, we started by strolling around the bird market (and other animals, but mainly birds and cats…), which is itself next to the plant market. There's a choice of menu for your feathered friends.Fancy a gourmet meal? The poor thing kept going around in circles in panic in his cage... I don't understand the idea of keeping an animal in these conditions...Help, help!Colorful chicks, that’s where we hit rock bottom… Gecko!Yeah biker power! Malang is a very green city.Despite the elsewhere look, this smile was definitely meant for me. This is a magnificent tree.We would have brought back the little “stuffed” puppies if we could…The name of the market in question. There are lots of trees lining the streets, which is quite pleasant. The rickshaw lover. (I don't really like the word rickshaw actually, I find it pejorative but here it sounded better than the rickshaw lover I think...)Church vs Mosque.Snack stop in an old establishment dating from the Dutch colonial era.It all looks appetizing. Then a little rickshaw ride. They have these trees here! The local shopping mall.A night club that's hard to miss.Bric-a-brac.Visit the city's Chinese temple.Final touches, the weather had just been renovated and was looking great. May the dragon force be with you. Wow, she doesn't seem to agree too much...Blurry photo, the rickshaw was going too fast...Here we are again at the roundabout near the station. Our “driver” of the moment. To end this day, a massage, but in a particular place, I will translate for you, these are blind masseurs and masseuses who massage you at this place, indicated in the guide we liked the concept and tested it, for my part it was a man who massaged me.This is all the more unusual since massage is not the main activity of the place, which is basically a small supermarket, with massages being given in the back (you can actually see someone waiting their turn). We've made a loop and here we are again towards this morning's market.A mini mosque. From the flower market side, we head towards the houses. Nice decor…Meow! From the sale of turf.Right across from our hotel was a place selling desserts, I really recommend you check it out! That way I don't forget the name.In the evening we went to a fancy restaurant that we had spotted before, judging it too expensive for a simple lunch, we considered the place however appropriate to celebrate my birthday!Cocktails for the occasion.Original presentation for a dish that is less so, but which was very good. The restaurant is quite beautiful inside, it also serves as a mini museum.
