End of year celebrations in Asia: where to go for a unique experience?
And yes, the year goes by quickly and winter will soon be here... Here is a guest article to offer you some suggestions on destinations where you can have a pleasant time during the end-of-year celebrations:
Three Asian destinations to spend the end-of-year holidays
From the beaches of Malaysia to the cooking classes of Hoi An, here are three Asian destinations for a dream Christmas vacation.
Langkawi, Malaysia
Snorkeling, diving, massages, boat trips, cycling, cultural tourism… These are some of the activities you can enjoy while visiting this archipelago located in the extreme northwest of Malaysia. Langkawi is a perfect destination at Christmas, as the effects of the monsoon are hardly felt there.
There are options for every budget in Langkawi. If you like to lounge around in luxury, you will probably choose one of the exclusive hotels in Tanjung Rhu or Datai Bay. For those on a budget, the beaches of Pantai Cenang or Tengah offer a variety of cheap accommodation and restaurants.

Goa, India
If you want to spend a beach holiday in India, think about Goa, in the far south. In winter, temperatures are around 28 degrees, which is perfect for long lazy days on the beach, a visit to old Panjim or some shopping in the famous Anjuna markets in North Goa.
Anjuna is a favorite destination for hippies and party animals. If you are coming with family, there are many quiet beaches like Palolem or Benaulim towards the South or far North. For an unforgettable memory, go eat on the beach in one of the small restaurants serving fresh fish caught that morning and accompanied by local fruits and vegetables. Another thing not to be missed: rent a scooter to ride from beach to beach.
Hoi An, Viet Nam
To fill your Christmas stocking, Hoi An is probably one of the best destinations in Asia. Some come with an empty suitcase and leave with a full one! The choice of handicrafts is huge, between shoes, bags and tailor-made clothes. Hoi An is also very famous for its cuisine and you can become a real chef by learning the secrets of the local cuisine. To choose the best workshop, find a restaurant where you have enjoyed eating and ask if you can take a class there.
There are also plenty of excursions to do around Hoi An. You can take a trip to the My Son ruins, about an hour or two from the city. Or rent bikes and visit some of the small islands or just wander around the markets and enjoy lazy days by the sea.
