Thailand Family visit: Phitsanulok – 3rd day – Trip April 2012 Phitsanulok, Northern Provinces, Travel to Thailand 0 (0)This 3rd day marks the start of the trip to the north of Thailand, more precisely in the Nan region, with a first stop for this day in Phitsanulok, not because it is an unmissable city but to avoid having a long day of driving that would have little interest. We arrived around 14pm after less than 5 hours of driving, time to get our bearings, find a restaurant open in the area (strangely there weren't too many in the area), do some shopping (biscuits and water especially, the heat makes fortunes for the drinks sellers...) this left us the end of the afternoon to visit the temples of Phitsanulok. Our hotel, the Casa Holiday, is worth the price, it's a shame there isn't much to see in the area.Bedroom. The large upstairs terrace. In the neighborhood, looking for a restaurant.Opposite the temple that we are about to visit, namely Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, knowing that there is also a temple of this name in Sukhothai as well as in Lopburi... to get your bearings, this temple is also called Wat Yai, a temple which dates from the 14th century. Small Buddhas in various positions. The only tourists we will come across will be a group of tour operators who have just got off their bus, with their super sticker on their t-shirt, all French... In the evening we wander around the market near the river. As a restaurant I would go to the one run by the family of a friend in Jitima (who is not there for this part of the trip) Having vaguely indicated where it was located the conclusion was that I should normally recognize the sister of said friend (although having never seen her before) And indeed, arrived at an area with restaurants I immediately recognize her sister who looks a lot like her, so it is as a "special guest" that we eat here after I explained to her who we were (and she introduces me to the cook, the mother, in passing), by special it will mainly be the fact of having a friend price (without knowing it before obviously, it was not planned) If you want to go there it is somewhere at the end of the night market the first restaurant in fact which overlooks the river.
