Taking advantage of the fact that Jitima had a free day and that I had only just arrived (so not really busy yet) we decided to go for a walk in Nakhon Pathom, a famous province and city located 56 km west of Bangkok, famous for its famous chedi 127 meters high which makes it the highest in the world, at least according to the source...

Sometimes we read that it is only 120 meters and would therefore be 2 meters smaller than the "real" largest stupa which would then be the one at Anuradhapura with these 127 meters.

From home, we take the van to go to the Victory Monument, from there it is the neighboring van that leaves for Nakhon Pathom, nothing could be simpler. When we arrive it is overwhelmingly hot. We still take the time to say a little prayer at the entrance of the building.

[EDIT 2014: see the program “Le Grand Tour” dedicated to Thailand and Cambodia which passed through Nakhon Pathom and visited the chedi: http://pluzz.francetv.fr/videos/le_grand_tour.html]

Here is the inner courtyard (and its magnificent green trash can) which goes around the chedi.

And next to the inner courtyard, the corridor.

Desks are arranged in this corridor, ready for classes, certainly for novices (apprentice monks).

Too bad the said chedi is currently undergoing renovation work, but it will only be more resplendent later!

nice pictures, I didn't do the inside part, it was in the evening.
On the other hand, you didn't stay to eat there in the evening? There is a big market specializing in food...
