Crowd bathing in Singapore's shopping district: Orchard Road

Here we are at the last day of this first visit to Singapore. Well, 3 days goes by quickly, but it's still a good amount of time to visit a city; it allows you to see the essentials without getting bored and might even make you want to come back.

Orchard Road, a shopper's paradise

Orchard Road is to Singapore what Siam is to Bangkok: a concentration of department stores and boutiques where you can spend all that hard-earned money.

Today, we had the opportunity to take a stroll through the shopping centres while taking some tasting breaks, without forgetting a little detour through the small side streets, which are home to beautiful old-fashioned houses, just a few steps from the shops lining the famous thoroughfare.

Hmm, here's a meal as I like them, a good all-you-can-eat buffet but be careful, it's timed!

Ok we have a little over 1h30, that still leaves plenty of time.

And after desserts of course!

What a choice! Needless to say (but too bad I'll do it anyway!) that we were quite full after that! Unfortunately I forgot where it was located...

After that head to Orchard Road and its department stores (the equivalent of Ratchaprasong in Bangkok).

A quick tour inside.

It was while we were quickly popping into a shop that I noticed a street across the street that looked nice. Seeing all the grumpy shop assistants in the shop, we quickly left to take a stroll down this alley, just to see something other than shopping malls.

It's there.

Easy to cross here given the traffic…

A strange mix of exoticism and modernism.

The crowd is mostly concentrated here.

It has the merit of being clear.

A big bank.

After that, it was time to pack up. We decided once again to go to our hotel by taxi, because although there is a metro in Singapore, the nearest station is 900 m from our hotel, I admit, we were lazy…

The only forest I will see is the one that borders an expressway, on the way back to the hotel, that will be for a future visit!
