Morning hike for sunrise in Dieng Plateau

And finally I had the morale! Because despite the "catastrophe" of the day before I found the strength to get up once again at 4am for a sunrise... It turns out that the group of French people (in fact 2 French people and 1 Dutch person, landed in the same hotel as us) managed to motivate me to go up with them, yes because you definitely need a viewpoint so a climb is essential... hence the very early rise. To my great surprise I had enough energy to do it (after a bit of hesitation all the same because I was afraid that the weather would be bad...

And it was…. well at least when we got up (Jitima didn't have the courage and kindly continued to sleep) it was raining again… So it was under a light drizzle that we got on the motorbikes with drivers to go to the foot of the mountain that interested us for this escapade. 1 motorbike with the 2 Frenchies and me and the Dutchman with a driver, well mine was just a driver because he would stay at the bottom while the other would serve as our guide.

The climb is done in complete darkness, I had fortunately planned the small flashlight that goes well. The "walk" is tricky because the ground is slippery and the slope on our left is rather steep. Everyone is more or less silent except our guide who makes sure that everyone follows well. This will be followed by the taking of more than 150 photos, of which here is just a small sample.

It's 5:30 a.m., the sky is very overcast, it doesn't look great at first glance despite the breathtaking view (a view which, clear, allows you to see the sea in the distance according to our guide)

One of my compatriots contemplates the view.

Suddenly I see a "hole" in the cloud, I suspect for a while that it is the heat coming from the cone below but it is no longer an active volcano according to our guide so if anyone knows the process of formation of this kind of hole I am interested (it lasted 10 minutes)

5:50 a.m. the first redness is felt on the horizon.

But the sky remains desperately overcast.

And suddenly the sun manages to break through a hole and offers us a superb spectacle, it is just 5:57 a.m., we are rewarded!

At that moment, fatigue disappears and gives way to wonder.

When we say that nature is beautiful and that we have it in front of us, it goes without saying...

The last rays appear. This will have lasted about twenty minutes.

Rain has already replaced the little sun visible in the distance.

In the distance, you can normally see Wonosobo. (On the right in the background, not really visible in the photo)

On the way back.

A little further down there is a second viewpoint.

Back down, the rain greeted us... we saw my driver who had been waiting for me during the 2 hours that the trip lasted.
