Thailand Surin, the elephant festival Northeastern Provinces (Issan), Surin, Travel to Thailand 0 (0)The festival is therefore a gathering conducive to a good show mixing dance, the history of Thailand and elephants. If you go, don't do like me, remember to take a sweater or something with long sleeves because the morning temperature at this time is a bit chilly (especially with a bit of wind...) It starts at 8am and lasts until almost noon. You have to count 500 baht per person all the same for a seat on the temporary stands, for the more well-off there are seats on the stadium stands at 1000 baht (the stadium being at the center of the "show" while the temporary stands are installed on the sides), for the less well-off I don't remember the price, maybe 100 or 200 baht something like that but there it's a struggle to sit down...It starts with a fanfare, then a first round of the elephants, then the dances interspersed with the elephants doing their "show", football, artistic demonstration (painting, balancing etc.) with a reproduction of a fight towards the end, before everyone participating joins the track, that's a lot of people. We went there "organized" with the Alban resort, with among my companions of the day, only French speakers! I greet them in passing if they recognize themselves. It is worth a look, the only disappointment, for someone like Jitima who loves elephants, is that there is a famous elephant village near Surin, which for the occasion was deserted because they were all present in Surin for the festival, the opportunity to return to the area to visit this village, and see the elephants in a condition other than at a "grand spectacle".In video, an example of one of the dances done during the show:Then let’s take a look at the photos: Did you like the article?
